Somehow, NY Times reporter Cara Buckley managed to write this article about the closing of the Chelsea Hotel without mentioning Dylan Thomas, who died there in 1953. Here is some footage of his funeral:
This seems to be an example of our pervasive cultural obsession with the 1960s—the only famous hotel residents noted in the article are ’60s and ’70s icons like Bob Dylan and Patti Smith, and the writer never even mentions that the hotel's been open since 1905...
